The 18-year-old will remain at the Swiss club until the end of June, aiming to secure valuable game-time and further his global footballing education.
Irankunda, who transferred to Bayern Munich from Adelaide United for 3.4 million euro, has already showcased his talent at Bayern's reserves, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 15 appearances during the first half of the season.
He also participated in three UEFA Youth League matches, scoring once. Bayern Munich's youth development director, Jochen Sauer, praised the young forward for his successful integration and promise.
"Nestory has integrated very well after his move from Australia to Europe and has repeatedly shown his great talent with our reserves," said Jochen Sauer, director of youth development at Bayern.
"We're convinced he'll take the next sporting steps in the Swiss top tier at GC Zurich. We'll continue to support him very closely on his journey."
Grasshoppers, currently second from bottom in the Swiss Super League, will benefit from Irankunda's dynamism as they fight to climb the table.
Irankunda will team up with fellow Australian international Awer Mabil, providing a familiar face as he adjusts to life in Zurich.
Despite being left out of the Socceroos' most recent squad, national coach Tony Popovic expressed confidence in Irankunda's potential, stressing the importance of settling and developing at Bayern.
Irankunda echoed these sentiments, stating that the loan move offers him a critical step forward in his career.
Both Bayern and Grasshoppers are optimistic about the partnership, seeing it as mutually beneficial for the player and the clubs.
