Better days ahead for SuperSport United as key players return

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt expects a significant improvement from his squad now that the injury list is getting shorter.

The Tshwane side were boosted by the return of attackers Bradley Grobler and Gamphani Lungu in their Betway Premiership goalless draw away to Chippa United on Tuesday night.

Hunt is relieved.

''Yeah you can see, with Bradley first, he obviously hasn't played since and August is a long time. But at least he got some mileage, yes he lacks sharpness - it's inevitable, he's had a major operation. And John hasn't played since May so you could see that as well. We looked better, with our players back, we need all our players,'' said Hunt.

The coach added he could already see the signs against the Chili Boys of a team that can only get better ahead of the busy December schedule.

''I thought when we changed the shape, I thought we were good. It is very difficult to play against Chippa - they work it from the back to the front and they are very good in the air. But once we got some passing range, to be fair we had some good chances,'' added Hunt.

Another positive for Hunt was goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa keeping a third straight clean sheet.

Matsatsantsa, who are in ninth place after eight matches, now face Marumo Gallants on Friday in a rare home game according to Hunt.

''But yeah, we move forward. We played eight games, I think six away. That team has improved because they have signed some good players,'' he expressed.
