Betway Premiership: Mamelodi Sundowns turn the tables on 10-man TS Galaxy

Mamelodi Sundowns turned the tables on 10-man TS Galaxy with a 4-1 victory in their Betway Premiership clash played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

Sundowns scored two early goals through Peter Shalulile and Iqraam Rayners but Sphiwe Mahlangu made sure Galaxy stayed in contest when he found the back of the net.

The game changed in the 26th minute though when Sepana Letsoalo was shown a straight red card for studs up tackle in the back of the calf of Sundowns' Bathusi Aubaas.

The Rockets were then a serious disadvantage with a man down as the champions dominated proceedings and struck two more goals to compete the victory.

It was an explosive start to the contest with three goals in the opening 10 minutes, Shalule hitting the back of the net from close-range after 57 seconds.

It looked as if Sundowns would run away when Rayners doubled the advantage in the seventh minute but Mahlangu made sure the Rockets stayed in touch.

Midway through the first half though, Galaxy's efforts became an even bigger issue when Letsoalo was shown his marching orders with a needless challenge in the middle of the park on Aubaas.

Masandawana then extended their lead before the halftime interval when Jayden Adams scored in the 38th minute to make the score 3-1.

Rayners then completed his brace three minutes after the break and Sundowns never looked in any trouble for the remainder of the half as the visitors were content to keep the score down.

The league holders remain 12 points clear at the top of the standings having played 18 matches but Orlando Pirates do have three games in hand.
