Betway Premiership: Stellenbosch leave it late to grab point against Polokwane

The draw marked their seventh of the season, maintaining their position in 5th place in the standings.

Polokwane City, sitting just ahead in 4th place, looked set for victory after Bonginkosi Dlamini gave them a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.

The goal came after a period of dominance by the visitors, with Mokibelo Ramabu having the first shot on target in the 14th minute.

Ramabu was instrumental throughout, earning the Man of the Match award for his performance.

Despite pressing for an equaliser, Stellies struggled to break down Polokwane's defence.

It wasn't until stoppage time that Ashley Cupido found the back of the net to secure a share of the spoils for the home side, much to the relief of their fans.

Stellenbosch goalkeeper Sage Stephens had a solid outing, ensuring his side remained in the contest with key saves throughout the match.

With the draw, Stellies remain in 5th, but will be eager to build on this result as they face Marumo Gallants on 4 March.

City, who had looked the more dangerous side for most of the game, will next face Golden Arrows on 12 March, hoping to get back to winning ways.
