While Chiefs showed brief glimpses of promise, Polokwane City looked in almost complete control as goals from Oswin Appollis (17') and Mokibelo Ramabu (90') saw them to a comfortable 2-0 win at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
In the first game of the weekend's action, played on Friday between SuperSport United and Richards Bay at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium, Bradley Grobler's late 89th-minute strike was enough to hand Matsatsantsa a narrow 1-0 victory.
The bulk of the action came on Saturday, with Sekhukhune United securing a vital 1-0 win over Cape Town City FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium thanks to a Keletso Makgalwa penalty in the 60th minute.
While down in Bloemfontein, at the Dr Molemoela Stadium, Maumo Gallants hammered Magesi FC 3-1 thanks to goals from Xola Mlambo (52'), Phathutshedzo Nange (68') and Kamohelo Mahlatsi (90+3), with Tsepo Kekora 39th minute strike the only response Magesi could muster.
Puso Dithejane's 75th-minute strike proved crucial for TS Galaxy in a tight 1-0 victory over AmaZulu FC at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
