Betway Premiership wrap: Sekhukhune hold off Chippa, AmaZulu thrash Magesi

There were valuable wins for Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu in Saturday's Betway Premiership action, with both teams finishing the day in the top five on the table.

Sekhukhune grind out another valuable three points

Sekhukhune United bagged their second win on the trot on Saturday as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over hosts Chippa United at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium.

Mokete Mogaila produced the decisive strike for the away side in the 37th minute, and the Chilli Boys were unable to find their equaliser despite 19 shots at goal, five of which were on target.

It was an evenly-contested clash, but Chippa may have felt they deserved at least a point, considering the travellers only managed two shots on target.

The result helped Sekhukhune build on their 4-2 win over AmaZulu in mid-week, and at the time of writing occupy third position in the standings.

Meanwhile, Chippa missed an opportunity to move into the top half of the table, as they are in ninth, two points adrift Usuthu in eighth.

AmaZulu bounce back against struggling Magesi

AmaZulu reignited their Betway Premiership campaign with a 3-0 win over Magesi FC on Saturday, climbing to fifth place.

Nkosikhona Radebe opened the scoring midway through the first half, pouncing on a rebound after a header struck the post, while Tshepang Moremi doubled the lead early in the second half with a clinical finish past the goalkeeper.

Andiswa Sithole sealed the victory in the final ten minutes, finishing a slick passing move at the back post, though a late chance for a fourth was cleared off the line.

The defeat leaves Magesi rooted in the relegation zone with only three wins from their 18 matches in the season thus far.
