The Natal Rich Boys have won just one of their six games in the Betway Premiership so far this season, pilling on the pressure on Truter since his appointment.
Although his charges eliminated Cape Town City on penalties, the coach explained why victory was bittersweet.
"Two wins in the cup now, I would have changed it any day for three points or six points, that's our bread and butter. But so far in the league, in the seven games we've played, five of the top six of last season in terms of [Orlando] Pirates, Sekhukhune [United], Stellenbosch was third and Cape Town City now as well, we had Galaxy as well in the first game so it was a tough opening eight games so far,” Truter said.
“But I'm very confident that happy days are ahead, to just get first beyond these 10 games and then I'm pretty sure we will kick off from there. We have Pirates on Tuesday and then we are finished with them for the rest of the season.
“So, it's looking good, the future is looking really good, especially with the progress we are making in this team."
Truter added that he was concerned with their lack of firepower having scored one goal in the league and needing some help in the cup too.
Richards Bay won via an own goal in the opening round of the Carling Knockout and a shoot-out in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
"Any win you'll be happy about but it's consistency, especially at home. Look, as much as we are happy and there's a lot of positives from the game, we can't dilute from the fact that we haven't scored a goal,” the coach explained.
“Goals are a few in between and it comes from a set piece at the moment. So, it's an area of our concern, it's an area that we are working on. So, that's one of the challenges we are facing at the moment but so far on the road, our losses have come on the road.
Where last season Richards Bay picked up more charity off their points on the road as well so it's turned around. So, we'll work on it. We'll set up, like I said earlier in the season it's important for this team not to lose and build from there.
“So yeah, going away to Pirates is not easy but we managed for 70 minutes very well against a very strong attack in Sekhukhune. So, Pirates will be the same as well."
