Bruno Fernandes not close to 'very quiet' Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim

This comes as United endure a challenging season under Amorim, who took over from Erik ten Hag following the Dutchman's early-season dismissal.

Amorim's arrival was meant to signal a fresh start, but United have struggled for consistency. The club currently sits in 14th place in the Premier League, having won only 11 of their 26 matches.

Their recent 1-1 draw against Arsenal further highlighted their difficulties, with performances failing to convince fans and pundits alike.

The scrutiny on Amorim has intensified, with critics questioning his ability to turn the club's fortunes around.

"I wouldn't say we're quite close. We don't speak that much to be honest. He is a manager that is very, very quiet..," Fernandes told CBS Sports.

"Obviously, being the captain, most of the things he wants to pass to the team, many times come to me, but many other times doesn't even come from him but from his staff.

"Obviously, we have a good relationship but I wouldn't say that is different than any other player. I knew the things that he was doing at Sporting but it wasn't someone I knew personally."

However, United's part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has offered his support, commending the manager's courage and describing him as a "thoughtful" individual.

Ratcliffe remains confident in Amorim's long-term vision despite the team's underwhelming results.
