Carabao Cup: Szoboszlai, Konate doubts for Liverpool's Tottenham fixture

Liverpool are shifting their focus to the Carabao Cup as they prepare for the semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur.

Temporarily putting their Premier League ambitions aside, the Reds aim to reach their third Carabao Cup final in four years.

The match will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Liverpool entering as favourites after a resounding 6-3 league victory over Spurs earlier this season.

Under the guidance of manager Arne Slot, Liverpool have enjoyed a stellar campaign, losing only once in 28 matches across all competitions. However, they face challenges in the squad department.

Joe Gomez is sidelined for several weeks due to an injury sustained in a 5-0 win over West Ham United on 29 December.

Ibrahima Konate has recently returned from injury but is unlikely to play, leaving young Jarell Quansah to partner Virgil van Dijk in central defence.

"If you've been out for such a long time, it is difficult to immediately play two games a week. So it will not come as a surprise if he does not play on Wednesday.

"He played today for 90 minutes and I think he showed in that 90 minutes he was ready to play."

Additionally, Dominik Szoboszlai is a fitness doubt for the clash.

"Yesterday he wasn't in yet but if he is in today, I would doubt he is available to start the game. But hopefully he is in today, but yesterday he wasn't."
