This move comes as Real Sociedad await a decision from Orri Oskarsson and Copenhagen regarding their offers for the Icelandic forward, who is set to join Imanol Alguacil's squad.
The specifics of Fernandez's deal have not been disclosed. However, it is anticipated that Sociedad will cover a portion of Fernandez's salary, and Cadiz will not have an option to buy the player outright, according to a report by MARCA.
Fernandez, a Sevilla native, joined Sociedad in January 2021 for approximately â¬10 million. His time at Anoeta has been plagued by injuries.
Shortly after his arrival, he suffered a muscle issue, but the more serious setback occurred in the summer of 2021 when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
As is typical with such injuries, Fernandez missed the entire 2021-22 season and only made his return in the 2022-23 campaign. Despite coming back, he was hampered by further muscular injuries.
Last season, he seemed to find some stability, but a fresh knee injury in January of this year required surgery, keeping him sidelined until the summer.
Now, Fernandez heads to Cadiz with the aim of rejuvenating his career. He will need regular game time and to rediscover his scoring touch to make the most of this opportunity.
Fernandez will return to Sociedad next summer with one year remaining on his contract, hoping for a fresh start and a chance to make a significant impact.
