The 36-year-old shot stopper has been put on ice indefinitely by Amakhosi for misconduct following reported allegations he arrived at training under the influence of alcohol and failed a breathalyzer test.
Johnson applauded the Chiefs hierarchy and staff for the swift verdict of the situation.
"That is something that has to be big, big, big credited to the management of this team and that doesn't mean Cavin Johnson. It means Jessica {Motaung}, it means Kaizer [Motaung Jr], it means Kemiso [Motaung], it means Gerald [Sibeko], it means Bobby [Motaung], it means Vina [Maphosa]. All of us put together how the club within inside the village is able to control that type of news," Johnson said.
Added to the charges of transgression against Khune were his public comments about fellow teammate and goalkeeper Brandon Petersen.
The coach says it was important to address the entire squad on the matter.
"Itu is a big part of this team but in the end we were able to calm the players and make sure that they realise what is happening. All of us are not perfect, that's the one thing we have to know. Whatever happens to some of our players or whatever happens to some of the players outside, whatever happens to players after they play, we are all not perfect," Johnson added.
It now remains to be seen what the future holds for Khune, who is in the final year of his Chiefs contract but now set to spend a part of it on the sidelines.
Johnson, however, reiterated that the player has their support.
"Things happen like this and we're just grateful that you work for an organisation like Kaizer Chiefs and they are able to say 'You know what we will help you'. So, that is what I am grateful for is that the club statement says 'We are going to help you'. I told you once before, this club is run by a man that should be walking with presidents."
