Questions have been asked over Gonzalez’s signing given his struggles to make an impact since his arrival at Chiefs in September.
The Colombian striker is on loan from Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz until the end of the season, while Saile, has at least chipped in with four goals since his arrival in January, but Johnson remains hopeful that Gonzalez will soon break his duck.
"Ja, Gonzalez, please God, bless him so he can score goals. It's all I ask because I think Saile has broken an egg, I think Ranga [Chivaviro] has broken an egg, Gonzalez hasn't broken the egg," said Johnson.
"A lot of times, strikers are the same as goalkeepers, they are crazy people, and at training you score goals, they look good, and when you play against an opponent, which you can only [simulate] up to a certain level, they tend not to find the back of the net.
"And that makes them frustrated, so I hope that he's able to get his head or feet scoring – whatever they have to do, and maybe it will come better."
According to Johnson, it is not easy for foreign players to settle in another country.
"In all respect to him and Saile, the South African game is not easy to adapt to – I believe – as a foreigner, especially when you speak French or Spanish," he added.
"It's really difficult for you to adapt to it, and that is one part that I find [when] coaching in another country, that I think we as South Africans need to get a little bit more fluent in, especially, Spanish or French as individuals.
"I blame myself for that as well because, when I'm a coach and I'm able to [speak other languages like Spanish or French], for sure my player will get better quicker.
"I'm putting that as a little bit of an excuse, but they're both very good people and very good strikers."
