Manchester United striker Hojlund, clarified that he did not intend to mock his "idol" Ronaldo following the goal that secured Denmark's win in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final clash.
Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, assured that he did not find Hojlund's actions disrespectful.
Speaking ahead of the second leg in Lisbon, the Portugal captain, who is 40 years old, stated: "For me, it's not an issue. It's not about him lacking respect. I'm smart enough to know that not just him, but athletes around the globe, also do my celebration."
Ronaldo added: "It's an honor for me. But tomorrow, I hope you'll see my celebration, not just his."
The Al-Nassr forward acknowledged that there was a heightened sense of tension within the Portugal squad after their disappointing performance in the first leg.
However, he defended head coach Roberto Martinez, urging calm and a positive outlook.
"I think it's unfair to criticize the coach. We are all in this together," Ronaldo commented. "We lost the game and played poorly, but we still have the second leg tomorrow. Let's stay calm, stay positive, and believe that things will improve."
