Deportivo sporting director Fernando Soriano officially confirmed the agreement for the young talent's transfer to Barcelona.
Manager Xavi Hernandez and President Joan Laporta had made it clear that securing a new right-back was a top priority after Hector Bellerin's disappointing return to Camp Nou.
The quest for reinforcements has led to speculation about several seasoned players, including Real Valladolid's Ivan Fresneda and Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard and Joshua Kimmich.
Yet, Barcelona's youth team have managed to secure one of Spain's most promising full-backs, Trilli, who has been highly regarded in the country. Trilli will join Rafa Marquez's Barça Atletic, which competes in Primera Federación - Group 2, the third tier of the Spanish league system.
"We are in the process of finalizing the paperwork. His signing for Barça is imminent," said Soriano in a statement to Sport. "In fact, he is already excused from training with us due to the advanced stage of negotiations."
Trilli, a regular for the third-tier side, has also represented Spain up to the Under-19 level. Initially, he will reinforce Barça Atletic, who have already experienced the departure of key players like Victor Barbera and Ilias Akhomach this summer.
While Trilli's move to the first team under Xavi remains a possibility, Barcelona are keen to find an immediate impact player. Sergino Dest, back from his lacklustre loan with AC Milan, has expressed his desire to become Xavi's preferred right-back. Nevertheless, the club still anticipates a new signing.
Valladolid's rising star Fresneda, who is two years younger than Trilli, is viewed as a likely candidate, although Bournemouth and Arsenal have also reportedly shown interest in the 18-year-old.
