The former Richards Bay FC and SuperSport United mentor returned to Babina Noko at the start of the season to work alongside Lehlohonolo Seema as assistant coach, but the latter has since been replaced by Eric Tinkler.
Following the official announcement that Tinkler would have Marc van Heerden and Paulus Masehe as his two assistants, the changes mean Tembo's future hangs in the balance.
According to information provided to the public broadcaster, the club and the 54-year-old have since held talks over a chance for him to oversee the youth academy, which would include heading up the Diski Challenge team.
Babina Noko had previously appointed Thabo Senong as head of development before he resigned to pursue a coaching opportunity in Tanzania less than two years ago.
Should Tembo accept the offer, he would be returning to his roots having started his coaching career in the development structures at SuperSport shortly after retiring from playing in 2006.
The ex-Zimbabwean international has also worked with several experienced coaches over the years in Pitso Mosimane, Gavin Hunt, Cavin Johnson as well as Stuart Baxter.
Tembo was eventually promoted to full-time head coach at Matsatsantsa in July 2018 and served until April 2022, winning the MTN8 after taking over from Tinkler.
