Eddie Howe: Callum Wilson won't leave Newcastle in January

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe insists that striker Callum Wilson remains committed to the club, amid rumours of his potential departure.

As the end of the January transfer window fast approaches, Howe is still having to assure the media of the unlikelyhood that Wilson could part ways.

The England international is currently out injured, which has left the Magpies with only one recognised striker in the squad.

Allowing Wilson to leave with such a lack of depth up front would appear to be a strange decision at this stage of the season.

"Callum is 100 percent committed just like Kieran [Trippier]," said Howe, as quoted by The Chronicle.

"That is why I surprised by the noise about Callum. He is currently injured. From his perspective and our perspective, there is nothing in it."

Newcastle take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday.
