The defender sustained the injury during a thrilling 4-3 victory over West Ham United at St James' Park and has since endured a gruelling rehabilitation process.
Despite being back on the grass, Lascelles has faced multiple setbacks and is still months away from making a full return.
Having spent over a year on the sidelines, the centre-back is not expected to feature again this season, dealing a further blow to Newcastle's defensive options.
His prolonged absence means he will miss the upcoming Carabao Cup final at Wembley, a significant disappointment for both him and the club.
In his stead, midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has taken on the captain's armband, providing leadership in a crucial period for the Magpies.

"He's had various problems and little setbacks, nothing major during his recovery, but just little moments that have ended up knocking his recovery back. So he's been on the grass. He's been training individually with physios.
"He hasn't got beyond that stage yet, but I think he's in a pretty good place. We're probably looking towards the end of the season as a return date for him."
