Eric Garcia confirms he will remain at Barcelona

Eric García confirmed he will remain at Barcelona this season after the defender revealed he has already had a chat with Hansi Flick.

Eric García won the Olympic gold medal with Spain on Friday to finish off an excellent season at the personal level for the Barcelona center-back, who had a rebirth during his campaign on loan at Girona and rediscovered his best level.

The 23-year-old then had a very strong Olympic tournament alongside his Barca teammate Pau Cubarsí, and despite the madness of the final against France he still made some crucial interventions to help La Roja win gold.

The defender's plan all along has been to play for Barca, and despite the rumors of a possible sale this summer Eric is pretty confident he will remain part of the squad for the 2024-25 season.

Speaking to the press after receiving the gold medal on Friday, he revealed he has spoken with new Barca coach Hansi Flick via text message throughout the Olympics, and when asked if he will stay at Barca this summer, his response was pretty simple.

"Yes, yes, 100%. I'm staying at Barca."
