The 17-year-old not only scored an exceptional goal but also clinched the man-of-the-match award, helping Arsenal secure a 2-1 victory and advance to the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
Nwaneri reflected on his debut, stating, "It's one of the highest definitely because it's the Champions League, it's what I've loved and watched since I was young.
"So to come here and win Man of the Match on my starting debut, it's a special feeling. I'm happy."
He also spoke about the emotional impact of hearing the Champions League anthem, noting, "Listening to the music was surreal, that's the moment I've lived for my whole life."
The match itself was filled with action from the outset.
Arsenal had an early chance when Raheem Sterling narrowly missed the far post. Leandro Trossard then had a golden opportunity but failed to connect well, sending the ball wide.
The Gunners thought they had taken the lead through Riccardo Calafiori, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Girona shocked the visitors with a goal by former Tottenham player Arnaut Danjuma in the 28th minute, but Arsenal quickly responded. After Thomas Partey was fouled in the box, Jorginho converted the subsequent penalty to level the score in the 38th minute.
Just minutes before halftime, Nwaneri showcased his talent by cutting inside and firing a brilliant shot into the bottom corner for his first Champions League goal.
The second half saw Arsenal maintain their momentum. Nwaneri was close to adding another goal, although his efforts were thwarted by both the frame of the goal and his own teammate Jurrien Timber.
Despite a scare from Girona with a disallowed goal, Arsenal held their lead, even after Sterling missed a late penalty.
This win extends Arsenal's unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches, with their away form particularly impressive, now unbeaten in nine games.
Nwaneri's performance not only highlighted his potential but also marked a significant night in his young career, under the lights of Europe's premier club competition.
