Gabriel pleads for consistency as Richards Bay move from danger zone

Richards Bay coach Ronnie Gabriel is asking for a similar fighting spirit displayed by his charges in the crucial 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants on Tuesday night.

The Natal Rich Boys clinched all three points at the King Zwelithini Stadium to move away from the relegation positions currently occupied by Magesi FC and Royal AM.

Gabriel, who watched on as his side clawed their way back from a goal down to a memorable win with goals from Justice Figuareido and Ntlonelo Bomelo, says the only way to survive the drop is to produce such a display in every fixture.

"I agree that the fighting spirit has to remain the same, but having said that, all the other games we played and dropped points in, the effort was there, and the attitude was right, the players put in the hard yards, we just failed to convert [chances] in those games," said Gabriel.

"The [pre-match] team talk was like this: 'Don't change much for today's game, put in the same type of performance that we put in against Sundowns, Pirates, and even against Magesi – put in the same amount of yards, and we'll get the result today.'

"Because we were happy with their performances, we were just not happy with the results, so it was that type of thing, and the boys complied – you saw the effort we put in, it was magnificent.

"Today was top-notch effort, and we can go week-in and week-out and be consistent with these types of results, so it's important we go into the next game and get a consistent result, with the same fight and fortitude, try to keep a clean sheets and get some goals."
