Neuer, who recently returned to action for Bayern Munich in October following nearly a year sidelined with a broken leg, saw a shift in team dynamics during his absence.
He lost the German captaincy to Ilkay Gundogan of Barcelona. Nevertheless, upon his return, Neuer was reinstated as Germany's number one goalkeeper by coach Julian Nagelsmann, ahead of the Euro 2024 opener against Scotland.
The veteran goalkeeper's performances in pre-tournament friendlies against Ukraine and Greece, along with a critical error in Bayern Munich's Champions League semi-final loss to Real Madrid in May, have sparked debate.
Although The 38-year-old's legacy among Germany's goalkeeping legends, these errors have fuelled calls for a change, with many advocating for Barcelona's Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to take over.
Asked about whether he is considering retirement from international football, Neuer said: "I'll turn my mind to it after the tournament."
