Now settled in Germany, the English defender has had the privilege of lining up alongside world-class talents like Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Muller, and Manuel Neuer. But it's the 38-year-old goalkeeper Neuer who has left Dier truly stunned since his arrival.
Speaking to Bayern Munich's club magazine '51', Dier admitted that Neuer's ability was no shock - he already knew the German legend was a master of his craft. What caught him off guard, though, was something else entirely.
"He really surprised me, not because of his quality, of course I was aware of that, but because he is much calmer than I would've expected," Dier said. "He radiates an incredible calmness."
Yet it's not just Neuer's cool-headed presence that has impressed Dier. The former Spurs man went on to praise the veteran's relentless drive. "His passion for training fascinates me most," Dier added.
"He's 38 years old and has won everything, really everything, but his love of football and his ambition are undiminished. That also explains why he's still playing at this level. For me, he's the best goalkeeper I've ever seen."
Dier, who has faced top keepers across Europe during his career, pointed to Neuer's work ethic as the secret behind his longevity. "When you see him in training, you understand why," he said. "His attitude and daily commitment are simply impressive."
The defender didn't stop there, highlighting the broader influence of Bayern's seasoned trio. "Figures like Kimmich, Muller, and Neuer are great role models, definitely, not just for us players, but also for people outside of football," he said.
Bayern Munich have enjoyed a strong campaign so far, and Neuer's form remains a cornerstone of their success. A recent update from the club's official X account praised the goalkeeper after a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig on March 8, with the post reading: "Another masterclass from Manuel Neuer. Wall remains unbreakable."
Dier's words only underline why the Bavarians continue to lean on their ageless captain between the sticks.
