The highly-rated 19-year-old winger made his name in Ghana with MSK Zilina Africa.
He was snapped up by AC Milan and turned out for their under 18 team.
He will now don the colours of the Toffees' under 21 side in a bid to force his way into the first team under Sean Dyche.
Boakye was part of Ghana's under 17 team that participated in the West African Football Union under 17 tournament in Niger three years ago, and has five appearances for the U20 team.
