Liverpool are gearing up for the arrival of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has spoken highly of his compatriot Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Mamardashvili officially joins the club this summer after completing his tenure with Valencia.

Signed by new Reds manager Arne Slot, Mamardashvili has already made headlines for his performances at Euro 2024, where he starred alongside  Kvaratskhelia.

Mamardashvili lavished praise on Kvaratskhelia, describing him as superior to any player in Spain's squad during Georgia's round of 16 clash against the eventual tournament winners.

"Kvaratskhelia is better than all of Spain," he stated ahead of Georgia's clash with Spain at the tournament.

The duo's strong camaraderie and performances at Euro 2024 have sparked speculation about a potential reunion at club level.

Kvaratskhelia, a 23-year-old winger currently at Napoli, has two years remaining on his contract but is reportedly at an impasse regarding a contract extension.

His impressive form has drawn interest from top clubs, including Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea.

Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation and may consider a January move if Kvaratskhelia's future remains unresolved.
