Giuliano Simeone, Atletico Madrid's talisman with a winning touch

Diego Simeone's legendary number 14 has found a new bearer in his youngest son, Giuliano Simeone, who is becoming pivotal for Atletico Madrid.

The number 14 was famously worn by Simeone during his illustrious playing career, particularly during the double-winning season at the old Vicente Calderon.

Now, the number 14 is synonymous with success whenever Giuliano graces the pitch for more than 30 minutes.

Atletico Madrid have secured victory in all 14 matches where Giuliano has played this duration, highlighting his significant impact in his debut season with the team he "always dreamed of playing for," as he has said.

Interestingly, the few losses the team have experienced this season in the Champions League and La Liga have coincided with Giuliano's brief appearances late in games.

For instance, he played 29 minutes against Benfica when the match was already out of Atletico's reach, and 13 minutes against Lille. His 20 minutes on the pitch against Betis also marked Atletico's only domestic defeat so far.

When Giuliano was absent, which happened in seven games across all competitions, Atletico managed four draws (against Villarreal, Espanyol, Real Madrid, and Real Sociedad) and two wins (against Leipzig and Cacereno).

In his 20 appearances, Giuliano has scored one goal and provided three crucial assists.

However, the data should not overshadow the fierce competition within the squad. With Nahuel Molina returning to form post-injury, the right flank is now contested by three high-caliber players: Molina, Marcos Llorente, and Giuliano. This competition for two spots is beneficial, especially with the demanding schedule ahead.

For now, Giuliano Simeone remains Atletico's lucky charm and, it seems, invincible.
