The Hammers, struggling with injuries in attack, secured the loan signing of Evan Ferguson from Brighton until the end of the season.
With Michail Antonio, Niclas Füllkrug, and Jarrod Bowen all sidelined for extended periods, Ferguson's arrival provides much-needed depth up front.
In addition to reinforcing their attack, West Ham recalled James Ward-Prowse from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder's return adds creativity in midfield, an area where Potter was keen to strengthen.
Jarrod Bowen, who had been out with injury, made his return against Chelsea and marked the occasion with a goal that briefly gave West Ham the lead.
Despite the eventual defeat, Potter remains optimistic about his squad's prospects, particularly with new reinforcements now in place.
"I'm happy," Potter said. "The players that we've got out at the moment are significant for us. When we get them back - which we will, hopefully, soon - that makes a difference to us.
"To get the two characters that we did, Evan and James, I think they will help the team improve training every day."
