Hansi Flick reflects on Barcelona's hard-fought win over Espanyol

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has expressed his satisfaction with the crucial 3-1 victory against Espanyol on Sunday, a match that marked the 12th round of La Liga.

Despite the win thanks to a brace by Dani Olmo and a goal by Raphinha, Flick had reservations about his team's performance, particularly in the second half.

"We lost too many balls in the second half. I wasn't pleased with how we played," Flick admitted. "I'm delighted with the three points; a derby is always challenging."

Flick also noted the depth in midfield, revealing plans to field up to six talented players as they return from injury.

"I'm happy to have them back, especially Dani Olmo. I'll manage their minutes gradually to avoid any setbacks," he explained.

Discussing the tactical aspects, Flick acknowledged that his side didn't control the game as usual after half-time. "We didn't press as effectively, which affected our dominance. It's part of the game," he remarked.

Reflecting on individual performances, Flick highlighted Olmo's impact. "He knows how to score and was vital today. While he's not at 100%, his return is significant for us," he noted.

He also praised Marc Casado, stating, "He's improved tremendously and is excelling in both defence and attack."

Flick addressed the need for squad rotation, particularly with the upcoming international break. "We have many matches ahead. Everyone wants to play and be a starter, and they understand the situation," he said.

Lastly, he reassured fans of his confidence in the team. "We prepare well for every opponent. I have no fear; the players must demonstrate their quality on the pitch, and our supporters appreciate our style of play," he concluded.
