Konate arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £36million after his release clause was triggered at RB Leipzig.
However, the Frenchman has faced some challenges. He spent most of his debut season on the bench, and injuries limited his playing time in the previous season, with consistent appearances only starting from March.
At the age of 24, with three more years remaining on his contract and a strong finish to the 2023/24 season, there is still significant potential for Konate to develop as expected.
"I'm very happy to be here and I want to win a lot of trophies with this club because it's an amazing club with big history," he told the club's official website.
"I want to be a big part of this club and win a lot of trophies with this club. I think this season, the third season, I have to level up and show another personality of me on the pitch and in life as well.
"I have a lot of objectives - a lot of clean sheets, help my team, score some goals and win some trophies."
Furthermore, Konate will likely be operating in a slightly different manner when the 2023/24 season commences.
Liverpool have already made tactical adjustments, with Trent Alexander-Arnold playing as an inverted full-back, pushing into midfield towards the end of the previous season.
This shift in tactics affects Konate's role and requires him to adapt his playing style accordingly.
He added: "Maybe [it] made me a better player because I have to do more, because I have more space to defend. But I have a nice team to help me do this and this season let's see what will happen."
