Answering questions during an event to celebrate 30 years of English Premier League (EPL) and African players in Randburg today, Radebe says he’s got his reservations about this appointment. Ntseki, a former Bafana Bafana head coach replaces Arthur Zwane, who only lasted a year as a coach after he was appointed to replace Stuart Baxter last year. Radebe is still not convinced by the Ntseki appointment.
"I thought we were gonna get somebody better. Not that Ntseki is not good enough but I don't think he's proven enough to be a quality coach for a big club like Kaizer Chiefs. It's a mismatch. I might be wrong," he said.
Ntseki’s appointment came as a huge surprise, as he was Chiefs Head of Technical and Youth Development and the club had been frantically searching for a coach. SABC Sport has learnt that over 10 coaches had been engaged including former Young Africans (Yanga) head coach Nasreddine Nabi, but the club couldn't tie them down into a deal owing to different reasons on the negotiation table. Radebe, who started his professional career at Chiefs in the early 90’s before moving to Leeds United in the PSL, says Amakhosi needs a top-quality coach.
"I think for me a club as big as Kaizer Chiefs you need someone who's gonna be quality in terms of coaches with a great reputation. I think with Molefi Ntseki he's been there, he's been with the national team, I'm not saying that he won't make an impact, he will make an impact but for a club like Kaizer Chiefs you need a coach that will actually change the players individually and make them better. Most of the time we always want to buy ready-made players and take a player from Sundowns and bring them here who's quality but can you take him to the next level? That's the kind of coach that this club needs."
