With eight continental titles between the two national sides, one of them goes home this weekend and the other has a chance to add another trophy.
Peseiro hopes to guide Nigeria all the way and write his name in the country’s history books by doing so.
''It's our goal to win, you know the story what I said - when we play the match our main goal and objective is to win the match. Because we know the power of the opponent and the quality of the coach,'' said Peseiro.
The Portuguese mentor added that through his own research before taking the Nigeria job he has always been aware of the magnitude of the fixture between these two powerhouses.
It’s a rivalry he couldn’t wait to experience.
''For me it's an honour and pleasure to be in the match tomorrow [this evening], a historic match, before I came here I have seen many matches in the African competition and the matches against Cameroonians. I am a happy guy because I can take the stage and stay like a coach in this match,'' added Peseiro.
But for his charges to take advantage of a Cameroon outfit that were on the verge of being eliminated in the group stages until their 3-2 come-from-behind victory over The Gambia, then Nigeria have to be convincing upfront.
The Super Eagles have only scored one goal in open play at AFCON, but Peseiro insists he is not worried at all.
''Statistics don't command the match, one tournament, one team, but I saw some statistics say our team can create more great opportunities than our opponent, if you create more opportunities - it can not change our model, our game'', he concluded.
Elaborating further when asked questions around whether talisman Victor Osimhen needed more support, the Nigeria coach was resolute in his assertion it’s only a matter of converting their chances.
