Riveiro will lead the All Stars XI on the bench as the head coach assisted by reserve team coaches of Pirates and SuperSport United Joseph “Duku-Duku” Makhanya and Thabo September.
The team is made of players who have been voted for by the public, campaigning in the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) Premier Division and Reserve League. Riveiro promises some exciting football in this game.
"A good show, entertaining football. We are going to go out to do our best and without the stress of the normal competition to play for three points. I think the players can show their best and the maximum of their potential and that's something that the fans will benefit from. That's what I expect, to hope for a good show. To play entertaining football, offensive and hopefully, we get to celebrate many goals," Riveiro said.
All Stars XI will line up with Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and his teammate Njabulo Ngcobo at centre-back, paired with AmaZulu’s well-traveled and experienced defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele.
The attack will be led by Victor Letsoalo and Ashley Du Preez. Speaking after their first training session yesterday, Riveiro says the focus has been on motivating the team and less on the tactics.
"It's not possible to make a team in two days and it's not the intention. The intention is to make sure that we have the right motivation and the will to do things because it's not gonna be about how good tactically or collectively we are. We cannot pretend to be a super good team in two days, nobody can do it but what we have is talent. We have the motivation to fight for a trophy, it's 90 minutes, it's a final and in 90 minutes, everything is possible."
