Julian Nagelsmann's tactics sees Bayern Munich advance in Champions League

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann explained their winning tactics in the Champions League win over PSG.

The German club advanced past PSG, winning 3-0 on aggregate, thanks to their second-half performance with goals by former PSG forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and another by Serge Gnabry.

Nagelsmann said, in his post-match news conference: "In the first-half, my players didn't completely follow the instructions, we left the Parisians too much space, and we weren't patient enough." He added, "In the locker room, we were able to draw the conclusions to come back better organized, with more rigour. In the end, both outward and return, we were well above."

Bayern's solid defence held PSG at bay, effectively neutralizing French striker Kylian Mbappe. The German sides defensive resilience in Europe this season has been superb as this was their seventh clean sheet in eight matches.

Nagelsmann said, "We were able to control PSG with our game plan, which did not allow them to develop their actions. The fact that Kylian Mbappe was given so little time to stand out is proof that we were there. We saw that (Lionel) Messi often went very low, and we were able to isolate Mbappe."

Meanwhile, PSG are left to do some soul-searching after the loss. Sporting advisor Luis Campos must now construct a plan to overhaul the squad drastically. Major changes are needed if PSG hopes to return to their former glory.
