Junior Zindoga's strike sends Gallants through in Nedbank Cup

The match kicked off with both teams eager to make an impact, but early chances were squandered.

Gallants were first to threaten, with Masindi Nemtajela and Junior Zindoga testing AmaZulu's defence from distance. AmaZulu responded with Tshepang Moremi coming close but just missing the target in the 6th minute.

The game's pivotal moment came in the 18th minute when Zindoga capitalized on an assist from Mpho Chabatsane, scoring a fine goal from a difficult angle.

This remained the only goal of the game despite numerous attempts from both sides.

AmaZulu's Rowan Human saw yellow for a foul, setting a slightly more aggressive tone to the match. The pressure from AmaZulu continued with several shots either saved or missing the mark, including efforts from Moremi and substitute Etiosa Ighodaro.

Gallants had their fair share of chances to extend their lead, with Daniel Msendami and Zindoga being particularly active. However, AmaZulu's goalkeeper Richard Ofori was on hand to make crucial saves, keeping his team in the game.

The second half saw AmaZulu pushing for an equalizer with headers from Elmo Kambindu and Ramahlwe Mphahlele narrowly missing the target. Marumo Gallants, on the other hand, defended stoutly and looked dangerous on the counter, with Rewaldo Prins hitting the bar late in the game.

Substitutions were made by both teams in an attempt to change the game's dynamics, but Marumo Gallants held firm.

The match ended with both teams having had opportunities but only Marumo Gallants finding the back of the net through Zindoga's earlier brilliance.

This victory sees Marumo Gallants advance to the next round, while AmaZulu will reflect on what might have been if not for that one decisive moment from Zindoga.
