Kaizer Chiefs coach praises Pule Mmodi after Chippa United victory

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says Chiefs and Bafana Bafana winger Pule Mmodi was their most impressive player during their 3-0 demolition of Chippa United last night.

Mmodi scored a goal and also helped force the penalty that Inacio Miguel converted. The former Golden Arrows attacker has been on form for Chiefs since the beginning of this year, and this was his first goal of the season.

Nabi says Mmodi is one of the most consistent players at Naturena.

"Mmodi, what he does on the`field is incredible. Sometimes maybe you look at one or two opportunities that he has missed but he's a winger, his first attribute is to score goals, maybe he should have scored some easy opportunities that he got but for me, he was the best player on the field,” Nabi said.

“He's a player that works consistently, he's a player that poses a threat on his direct opponent all the time. Maybe you'll see that all the set pieces or free kicks that he got for us, even when we are defending, he's a player that tracks back all the time.

“He works for the team, he works incredibly well for the team and we need to congratulate him and we believe that he was the best player on the field and he's been one of the best players."

Gaston Sirino opened the score beautifully for Chiefs, firing a well-placed cutback pass from man of the match Reeve Frosler to the roof of the net.

Amakhosi progressed to the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals in style at FNB Stadium, and Nabi was full of praise for his players.

"It's a very good win today against a very difficult Chippa team. We feel that after the first goal we lost a little bit control of the game but we tried to rectify it in the second half which we believe was way better in terms of controlling the game and defensively and offensively,” the coach added.

“A very big thank you to the players that were committed and I think as well that we are starting to have a very big mindset into the team as well, a collective mindset into how to look for a victory and how to play together. A big shoutout to the players and to the technical staff."
