It’s a deal the Glamour Boys have kept under the radar for some time now having apparently opened talks with SuperSport United for the player’s services as soon as the transfer window opened.
Chiefs have been in the market for a forward to boost their squad with coach Nasreddine Nabi admitting recently that his current options – Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez – need help.
Chiefs have also submitted an offer for Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis, but the best news the club have so far is that their Betway Premiership rivals from Tshwane have agreed to release Morris.
SuperSport threw the 30-year-old a lifeline when coach Gavin Hunt recommended Morris be signed back in October when Matsatsantsa were facing a crisis upfront with Bradley Grobler out injured for three months.
The former Cape Town City player was a free agent after leaving Sekhukhune United and was searching for a new club.
According to information provided to the public broadcaster, Morris will join Amakhosi this week to start training with his new Chiefs teammates should he pass the medical as expected, although the red card in his final game for SuperSport means he will miss two matches.
Morris went lunging in on Sekhukhune midfielder Relobogile Mokhouane in the 3-0 defeat SuperSport suffered last weekend.
Amakhosi narrowly lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows on the same day, with Chiefs’ missed chances proving yet again why they need a striker.
It’s believed the Soweto giants were also targeting Swiss forward Ruben del Campo, but it is not likely the deal will go through.
