Kaizer Chiefs youngster Sfiso Timba on trial at Belgian club

Kaizer Chiefs defender Sfiso Timba has been invited by Belgian outfit RWD Molenbeek for an assessment, his agent Steve Kapeluschnik has told SABC Sport.

The 19-year-old was reportedly on the verge of being promoted to the Amakhosi senior team by coach Nasreddine Nabi following his impressive performances in the reserve league.

Kapeluschnik provided more information on the links with Molenbeek, a club in the Challenger Pro League.

“This is a great opportunity for Sfiso. He flew out on Thursday night to join the team in Turkey, where they are camping for their mid-season preparations," said the agent.

"This kid has massive potential and will be a future star. He has been invited to be assessed by the club, who are in the second division in Belgium and we will take it from there."

Timba was recently part of the junior national squad that won the u20 COSAFA Cup tournament in Mozambique, where they secured a spot in the Africa U20 Cup of Nations to be held in Cote d’ Ivoire later this year.

"We expect this to be a big year for him, especially with the AFCON coming up in April. I believe Sfiso is ready for Europe," added Kapelischnik.

The right-back has been one of the stand-out performers for Chiefs as they aim to finish top of the Diski Challenge log, where they currently occupy second place after 12 matches.
