Keagan Dolly not giving up on Khama Billiat at Kaizer Chiefs yet

After five years at Naturena, Billiat has not had a lot of success due to constant injuries. 

His contract at Chiefs is expiring at the end of this season, and it’s believed that he could be one of the players who might not be retained. 

Amakhosi are looking to assemble a new arsenal that will take the team forward.

"Khama is trying to get back to his fitness level. He's working hard at training, he started jogging. I think for any player, not knowing what the future holds is stressful. But he's been in the game for a long time, he knows what he can achieve here at the club. He's working hard to get back and play the last few games, then he'll see what's going to happen next," he said.

Dolly and Billiat were part of the Mamelodi Sundowns team that won the maiden CAF Champions League title in 2016. 

Their first season together at Amakhosi yielded positive results and rekindled their combination as they scored a combined 16 goals and provided a total of 23 assists between the two of them. 

The pair is also amongst the highest-paid players in the league. 

Dolly, who is on only on five goals and five assists in all competitions this season, has also acknowledged that they have lacked a regular goal scorer and wants to take responsibility for that as an attacker.

"We've been creating chances but we haven't been scoring enough and I feel like once we do get the confidence in front of goal, we will win games. We are a bit too hasty in front of goal, we tend to rush our decisions. I feel like I've been involved in quite a few build-up plays and getting into the final third, I think I need to take responsibility as well and I'm working on it," he explained.

Meanwhile, ahead of their crucial Dstv Premiership game against another much-improved side in Stellenbosch FC this evening, Dolly has emphasized the importance of staying focused.

"We are not going to underestimate them, we know that they're a good team. They've got good individuals, they're on a good run. So are we, we got the confidence. We won four games in a row now and I think throughout the season this is the first time and I think for us it's just to keep the focus and keep the momentum going," he concluded.
