Late Joca strike sinks Sekhukhune United in CAF Confed clash

CD Lunda Sul secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg on Saturday, thanks to a last-gasp goal from Joca.

The Angolan side, playing their first season of continental football, left it late to snatch a win at Estadio 11 de Novembro.

The match was a tight contest, with both teams struggling to find the back of the net.

However, in the 94th minute, Joca's cross-turned-shot from the right caught Sekhukhune goalkeeper off guard at the near post, sealing the win for Lunda Sul.

Sekhukhune, playing in their second CAF Confederation Cup campaign, had hoped to improve on last season's group stage exit.

However, they were without head coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who missed the trip due to a coaching course in Lesotho.

Senior coach Kaitano Tembo and assistant Paulus Masehe were left to lead the team.

The return leg is set for 21 September in South Africa, where Sekhukhune will need to overturn the narrow deficit to keep their continental hopes alive.
