The 29-year-old Czech striker believes he's hot on Kane's heels in the race for the Torjagerkanone, the iconic cannon-shaped trophy awarded annually to Germany's leading goalscorer.
With eight matchdays left, the battle is heating up, and Schick is determined to make his mark.
"I'm four goals behind Harry Kane, which is a lot, but I can get close to him," Schick told BILD in a recent interview. "We have an interesting fixture schedule ahead, and I believe in it a little bit. Above all, though, we want to put pressure on Bayern."
Leverkusen are currently six points behind league leaders Bayern Munich in the standings, and Schick sees a chance to turn the tide. "I think it's still possible," he added. "We want to apply some pressure. We believe we can."
As it stands, Bayern's Kane tops the scoring charts with 21 goals, while Schick's 17 strikes put him two ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach's Tim Kleindienst and Mainz's Jonathan Burkardt, both on 15. S
chick's red-hot form, 17 goals in just 23 appearances, averaging a strike every 68 minutes, has made him a serious contender.
Leverkusen's title defence has hit a few bumps this season, but Schick's confidence remains unshaken. His recent comments echo the fighting spirit that saw them lift the Meisterschale last term, and with crunch fixtures looming, including a potential showdown with Bayern, the stakes couldn't be higher.
Schick's latest update, shared via posts on X on March 21, underlines his ambition. "I can get closer to him," he reiterated, hinting at a thrilling climax to both the scoring race and the title fight. For Leverkusen fans, it's a rallying cry, Schick isn't just chasing goals; he's gunning for glory.
