The 22-year-old Hungarian internationals move to Anfield comes after Liverpool successfully activated his £60 million release clause.
A versatile player capable of featuring in midfield or on the flanks, Szoboszlai is expected to ink a lucrative five-year contract, with personal terms posing no obstacle. Liverpool beat a host of top European clubs in the pursuit of Szoboszlai, cementing their reputation as a Premier League powerhouse.
While Newcastle had been tracking the young talent, their focus has shifted towards alternative targets. Szoboszlai, who currently earns £80,000 per week at Leipzig, stands to receive a substantial pay rise upon joining Liverpool, further enhancing the club's allure.
Liverpool's successful negotiations with Leipzig bode well for their future collaboration, having previously secured Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate from the German club. In a separate move, talented youngster Fabio Carvalho has embarked on a season-long loan to Leipzig.
Having begun his senior career at Liefering, Szoboszlai made a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg in 2018 before joining Leipzig in 2021. His time at Salzburg saw him clinch four Austrian league titles and three Austrian Cup triumphs.
Since his move to Leipzig, Szoboszlai has already lifted the DFB-Pokal trophy twice.
Szoboszlai's imminent arrival at Anfield marks Liverpool's second major signing this summer, following the acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. With their squad strengthening, Liverpool aim to assert their dominance in the upcoming season and beyond.
