Man City's Rico Lewis to miss Man Utd clash due to red card

The young defender was sent off after receiving two yellow cards, leaving his side to finish the game with ten men.

Lewis's first booking came in the 54th minute for dissent towards referee Rob Jones. The second, more contentious yellow card, followed a tackle on Trevoh Chalobah.

Replays suggested that Lewis's foot was beneath Chalobah's during the challenge, raising doubts about the referee's decision.

Before the incident, Lewis had made a significant impact on the game, scoring an equaliser for Manchester City in the second half.

His goal brought City back into contention after Palace had taken an early lead.

The sending-off sparked debate among fans and pundits alike, and City manager Pep Guardiola added to the confusion with cryptic post-match comments.

"I don't understand," he said, without elaborating further on whether he was questioning the referee's decisions or Lewis's actions.

As a result of his red card, Lewis will be suspended for Manchester City's next Premier League match - a crucial derby against Manchester United.

The suspension adds to Guardiola's selection challenges as City look to maintain momentum in their title defence.
