Man Utd receive offer to offload flop Antony

Manchester United's struggles in the transfer market continue to unfold, with Brazilian winger Antony potentially on the move in January.

The Red Devils have reportedly received interest from La Liga side Real Betis according to Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla.

Antony, who joined Man Utd from Ajax for an initial fee of 82 million pounds (potentially rising to the same amount with add-ons), has not lived up to expectations in the Premier League.

The winger has managed only 12 goals and five assists across 93 appearances for the club. His performances led to limited playing time under both Erik ten Hag and current manager Ruben Amorim.

Real Betis, managed by ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, have made "the first moves" to secure Antony on a six-month loan deal in January.

While it's unclear whether Manchester United will accept this proposal, the Spanish club are prepared to cover a significant portion of Antony's 200,000 pounds weekly wages.

To make room for this potential acquisition, Real Betis are contemplating selling their 19-year-old winger Assane Diao, whose market value is around 15 million euros.

This sale would not only facilitate Antony's arrival but also provide funds for other squad enhancements.

Antony's agent, Junior Pedroso, has confirmed the interest in his client, stating, "Yes, many clubs have approached us for Antony's move in January. These clubs wanted to understand the situation for Antony, so I can confirm that there's concrete interest."

Despite the interest, Manchester United have not directly informed either Pedroso or Antony that he is surplus to requirements, although media reports suggest the club are keen on offloading him to fund a squad rebuild under Amorim.

In other transfer news, Leicester City, now managed by former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, have enquired about a loan move for Manchester United's young defensive midfielder Toby Collyer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United insider Andy Mitten shed light on Marcus Rashford's ongoing challenges at the club, revealing, "Every previous manager has had issues with Marcus Rashford. I've spoken to them. They've told me in confidence going back years and years and years."

This statement highlights a recurring theme of managerial friction with Rashford, spanning across five permanent managers from Louis van Gaal to Amorim, suggesting the player might be the common denominator in these conflicts.

This January transfer window could prove pivotal for Manchester United as they look to reshape their squad amidst financial constraints and high expectations.
