Manuel Neuer picked over Ter Stegen as Germany's Euro 2024 goalkeeper

Coach Julian Nagelsmann has settled the goalkeeper debate for Germany's Euro 2024 campaign, opting for Manuel Neuer despite his injury setback.

Neuer's selection comes as a blow to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who will serve as the backup keeper.

Bayern Munich's Neuer, although sidelined with a torn muscle fibre, remains Nagelsmann's preferred choice. Addressing the media, Nagelsmann affirmed, "We have made the decision... It's 'only' a torn muscle... It's also about giving the players a certain amount of security."

Acknowledging ter Stegen's capability, Nagelsmann stated, "I'm glad we still have a second world-class goalkeeper." However, the coach emphasized that the decision stands firm regardless of Neuer's injury, indicating confidence in the veteran keeper's swift recovery.

With Neuer leading the defence, Germany aim to bolster their Euro 2024 campaign, relying on his experience and expertise between the posts.

Despite the injury setback, Neuer's selection underscores Nagelsmann's faith in his abilities and commitment to securing success for the national team.
