The decision led to questions even before Gallants were relegated from the DStv Premiership when they switched venues from Polokwane to Bloemfontein amidst reports of conflict with the Peter Mokaba Stadium management.
Sello explained why Free State will continue to be their base as the club fights to gain promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
"We taking football where it's supposed to be, where they need it most. Where the thirst is. Not to say we undermine any province; we undermine any region. It's like marriage, you marry into a family that accepts you well and obviously, we look at the conditions, what the supporters there are giving us, what the leadership in the province is giving us at all levels of governance," Sello said.
"So, we realise now when we compare with others that was the relevant one we can use now and it attracted us most."
The chairman insisted conversations took place early in making a call on their home venues. But due to some loose ends, Gallants have so far scheduled matches at the Vaal University of Technology until the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium is fully approved by the PSL.
"At the moment there are a lot of logistics to be fixed and all those kind of things. We are still here in Gauteng and then once that opens, we will play there. So, things will change as we go along but we take football to where it's mostly needed.
It's not only us going there, they need us there and we've been talking about this marriage [partnership] for a year now. So, I think even everyone who hears about this, knows where we started, where we are now and we are not just specific in saying, we are targeting this.
We were like any other club when they recruit membership and supporters and we were like, that's where we need to be."
