Michael Olise to miss Bayern Munich pre-season

New signing Michael Olise will not be a part of Bayern Munich’s pre-season preparations.

This is due to the 22-year-old having being called up to the France squad for the upcoming Olympic Games, which runs from July 24 - August 10.

The Bavarians confirmed the signing of the winger from English Premier League outfit Crystal Palace on Sunday on a five-year-deal for a transfer fee of €53 million that could rise to €60 million.

Pre-season for Die Roten starts on July 17. At the end of the month, the record Bundesliga champions will be visiting South Korea and alongside many other events, will play a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur as part of the Coupang Play Series in Seoul on 3 August.

New coach Kompany takes charge of his first competitive match on Friday 16 August, away to SSV Ulm 1846 in the first round of the DFB Cup, before the Bundesliga kicks off the following weekend. The German Football League (DFL) will announce the fixtures for the new season on 4 July.

Wihtout a proper pre-season, it will no doubt take some time for Olise to get up to speed in terms of match fitness, building understanding with his teammates as well as fitting into the culture of the club and adapting to life in Germany but he is expected to play a crucial role for Bayern after his dazzling displays in the English top-flight last season.
