Mikel Arteta: Bukayo Saka is ready to go for Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is back to full fitness after a three-month injury absence, with the Arsenal winger set to make his long-awaited return to action.

The England international, who underwent surgery for a hamstring issue sustained in December's Premier League victory over Crystal Palace, has now fully recovered and is ready to contribute to Arsenal's push for the title.

Saka has been a key figure for the Gunners this season, registering nine goals and 10 assists in just 24 appearances. Arteta is eager to integrate him back into the squad as soon as possible, with the winger potentially featuring in Tuesday's crucial league clash with Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.

"Bukayo Saka is ready to go," Arteta said, expressing his confidence in the young star's readiness. "We've followed all the necessary precautions, and now it's about bringing him back at the right moment. He's pushing hard because he's eager to get back on the pitch."

Arteta went on to emphasize the importance of Saka's return for Arsenal's ambitions this season, particularly with the club sitting second in the Premier League, 12 points adrift of leaders Liverpool with nine games remaining. "Bukayo is a massive weapon for us," said Arteta. "We know his impact on the team, and how crucial his role is for our success."

While Saka's return is a major boost, Arteta also confirmed that defender Riccardo Calafiori will be sidelined for a while after picking up a knee injury during international duty with Italy against Germany on March 20. The manager described the injury as less severe than initially feared, stating, "It could have been much worse. We're hopeful that it'll be a matter of weeks, but we'll have to monitor his recovery closely."

In a week of transitions at the club, Arsenal's new sporting director, Andrea Berta, was also present at the news conference. Berta, who replaced Edu after his departure, was said to have attracted interest from other clubs but was "positive" about joining the Gunners.

As Arteta looks ahead to a busy end to the season, the return of Saka will give Arsenal a significant boost in their quest to close the gap on Liverpool and secure a top finish. With his star winger back in action, the Gunners are hoping to finish the season strong and continue challenging for the Premier League crown.
