The two teams lock horns in their third game of the season tomorrow afternoon at 15:30 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Chiefs have already lost twice to Sundowns this season, but this was before the arrivals of Cardoso, in the Betway Premiership and Carling Knockout.
Nabi, says what is clear is that his Portuguese counterpart, has tweaked some things in Sundowns’ play.
"I think for the game, we have a new coach at Sundowns, Mr Cardoso. Just small things as well, it's not the same Sundowns coach Rulani Sundowns. If you observe their football, it has changed,” Nabi said.
“I don't know if he knows Kaizer Chiefs too much but the last game was very bad. I think the last game is not the real level for Kaizer Chiefs. Maybe they are top three [Sundowns] in Africa or top two best teams in Africa.
“I know this challenge, I don't think we are a small team, I trust my players. I trust my staff, myself and I want good results but's difficult, it's not a big problem but I want to propose a big, big game but I promise you this game is not gonna be like the first game with Sundowns and it's not gonna be like the second game with Sundowns, it's different."
Chiefs have not beaten Sundowns in almost four years now, having last won a game against them with the 2-1 win under coach Gavin Hunt in 2021.
Coach Manqoba Mngqithi, was still in charge of the Brazillians in the first two matches, when they beat Chiefs 2-1 and 4-0 respectively.
Nabi looks back at those two matches.
"I think the first game, honestly, minimum was 0-0. For the second game, I remember the time of the second game, we had played two days before, I think I played in Bloemfontein or Polokwane and the team was very, very tired. This moment, we have prepared very well for this game, like a Champions League game."
