Nasreddine Nabi prioritizes good football to woo back the crowds

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi believes that as his team continues to play attractive football, more supporters will continue flocking to the stadium to watch their matches.

Speaking to the media ahead of today’s crunch Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium, Nabi says playing good football is one of their priorities this season after instilling a winning mentality.

In the season's first two matches against Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu, there were sold-out crowds in Bloemfontein and Durban, respectively.

Over 72 000 tickets were sold last night for today’s game, and Nabi says Chiefs is only playing at 20 percent of his expectations so far.

"Yes, for that I want beautiful football, not now but I think with a club like Kaizer Chiefs with a big DNA, it's needed. If you propose beautiful football with results, I think the fans come back,” Nabi said.

“I need them, I need the fans, all the players need the fans, honestly in bad and good moments, I need them but I promise the fans, step by step we will propose very beautiful football because for now we are only on 20% from what I imagine from Kaizer Chiefs [style of play]."

For the first time in five years, Chiefs have been able to win their first two matches of the season.

Nabi is no stranger to being loved by football fans, it was a similar situation in Tanzania where he ended a four-year trophy drought of the biggest club in that country, Young Africans. Nabi goes on to say, when he returns Chiefs to glory days, he would even consider retiring from coaching.

"If you win, you are happy but for myself as a coach, I have another responsibility and I have other things to observe, I'm not happy with some things but I also see progress. It's normal but we will come back, I don't know what time but we will come back."
