The loss put an end to The Buccaneers’ six-game unbeaten run in the league, leaving them third on the table – eight points behind rivals and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have four games in hand, as well as SuperSport in second.
Riveiro argues they could have gotten more out of the game, especially having broken the deadlock through Fortune Makaringe inside just five minutes.
"The result is not telling the whole story about the game, but in the end it's 3-1 and there's nothing for us here today," said Riveiro.
"We started the game very well, we had the opportunity to finish the game in the first 30 minutes, but we didn't, and we get punished.
"In the second half I think we were playing very well before conceding the second goal, even at 2-1 and 3-1, I think we had chances to still try and collect something."
A clearly dejected Riveiro says Pirates wanted to continue their winning run.
"It's painful and that's a good thing – it's painful for all of us, the fact that we were winning a lot of games recently, it's not helping us because we are a winning team.
"We are here to win games and it is not in our mind right now that it's normal to lose every six or seven games, we want to win every single game, but today it was not possible for different reasons."
