Pablo Martin sacking wake-up call for AmaZulu players

With AmaZulu having confirmed Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi as co-coaches, midfielder Rowen Human says the players should take some responsibility for the sacking of Pablo Martin.

Usuthu fired the Spanish mentor just three matches into the Betway Premiership season after the club lost all those matches.

Human described the decision taken by president Sandile Zungu as a wake-up call.

"It's a team sport at the end of the day, we all take responsibility for not winning. We're the ones on the field but it's football and things never went our way in these first three games and it's not gonna define our season,” Human said.

“So, it's just a moment of picking ourselves up and moving forward and doing our best, the season is still long."

Although Martin took the fall, Human said the players should not be comfortable either following the appointment of a new technical team.

"Yeah, no definitely because things change as well for players, a new coach can come in and he's not too fond about a certain player and January comes and then that player is gone,” he added.

“So, no one can be comfortable at this moment, we all need to work hard, we all need to show that we want to represent AmaZulu and that's what I think everyone needs to focus on doing, representing the club and getting the club out of the situation that we currently see ourselves in."

Martin had been rewarding Human for the work he’d put in behind the scenes by involving him in all three fixtures, and that was a big step for the player personally.

"Yeah, no definitely and I've been in all three games, last season I think I featured in about eight or nine times, the whole season. So, that's already that's 30% of the games I played last season so definitely there's an improvement.

“Physically also, big improvement, mentally, big improvement, so I feel like I had the time in the off-season to do an introspection and tell myself that, it's now or never."
